about

The mountain is awoken to the desperate light of a cell-phone wandering through the ridges. It floats by and catches the eyes of owls who spin their necks round as it passes. The locusts are out tonight and the wind is whispering crazy. Follow the ghosts, they'll lead you home.

about

M.H. is an American band that consists mostly of 20 year old Maxfield Háag, playing and recording most of the instruments at ... more home, though it's not uncommon to hear guest singers and musicians. He cites isolation, Southern Gothic literature, aphorism, home-recording artists and European folk music as influences. So far, "M.H" has released 6 albums since 2010's "Summer Lawn, Locust Song". less

Track Name: House Full of Locusts
In a house full of locusts
I try to live.
Every night I hear their stirring-
the scraping of tiny wings.

Nothing I hold is sacred,
they eat a hold in everything.
In a house full of locusts
I lie awake, all night.

The dust & dirt awaken
with the sound of my feet.
In the air it freezes
from the light that shines
through the holes in my bed sheets.

I can't sleep so I'll go walking with your ghost...
Track Name: Generation X
I'll stand here and let my heart get broken,
just watch you walk with my woman
on your arm,
though I stand to see her go.

And soon, I will run and find another-
as soon as I'll let you have her
on your arm,
my arms will be free.

How can I fall in love,
now that Generation X is dead?
It's time to pack my things and leave--
everything that I loved here is dead.

I'll withstand the serpentine kisses of strangers
and delight myself the dangerous game
of being on foot.

One day love, I will return to
your golden fields and lime-stone covered hills
where the river steadily flows.

I think I know what these kids mean,
they're just trying to invent their own American Dream.
It's a feeling that we've had
since we were seventeen
but it's time to grow up now-
it's time to live something new.
Track Name: The Hands of a Hideous Giant
Theres no room for mistakes,
in this life that I'm living.
Theres no escaping my fate,
only distractions.

And I know I'll only live this life again,
not just in my head.
So theres no use in wishing-
since I've held you in my hand
and felt the wind scatter you
amongst the dirt that I search & destroy.

With the hands of a hideous giant,
I crush what I love-
with the best intentions.
Track Name: The Sun
My body is a vessel and my intentions are fair.
What's present is distinction,
my essence is elsewhere.

In fog there is no rapture, there is only retreat.
The laws are rigid,
the laws are concrete.

I am not a rest, I am turning.
I'm rejecting my design-
I'm not growing or learning.
I'm just waiting for the divine.
My limbs are now stretching for the sun,
the beautiful sun.
To wrap its arms around me.
I am just a vessel.
Track Name: Arrows
How I've stretched the line.
We both walk on.
How I've denied you, my kind.

Once, you had come as arrows-
that pierced my toughest hides.
Once, I let you under- inside.

Now, you surround me-
You are flying by,
but who's in motion?

I hear your songs in my sleep.
I also hear cries.
I cannot contain them,
I must sing back.

I must sing back.
Track Name: Owls
I've got a hole in my head.
Where all those memories fled.
They were always trying to get away,
I've got a hole in my head.

Sweet thing I need you here
because I'm bad company.
Sweet thing I need you here
because I'm bad company.
I'm bad company.

I've got an ocean under me.
Water foaming at my feet.
The sharks are circling,
the sharks are circling.

Sweet thing I need you here
because I'm bad company.
Sweet thing I need you here
because I'm bad company.
I'm bad company.

Walking up and down the ridges.
I heard the owls call my name.
And seeing the cars through the trees
was like seeing your face again.

Sweet thing I need you here
because I'm bad company.
Sweet thing I need you here
because I'm bad company.
I'm bad company.
Track Name: Loretta
Loretta changes the sheets of the bed,
while her baby is crying.
Wheat-grass waves through a dusty pane,
exposing summer's dying.

Who's that man at the door?
With a face like two dogs fighting.
Loretta stands in the doorway,
her body's tense but here eyes are inviting.

Loretta changes the locks on the door,
while that baby's getting older.
The snow lies down like a virgin in the yard
waiting for adoring eyes to behold her.

Who's that voice on the phone?
Who sings like an old lover.
Loretta gazes out as she changes her tone,
"Christ, we're getting older."
