about

In the woods of Virginia a different age is held, if you walk long enough past the busy highways- if you leave your back door- you can find remnants of this age. The seemingly prehistoric foundation of the South that appears no different from the earth it rests on. Though the Suburbs have taken their claim in this landscape the past refuses to die and on those hot summer evenings I walk with it's ghosts. We sing songs about the celebration of life in the face of death- for that is what they have taught me and I sing them songs of Man's passion. At the abandoned house down past the barbecue joint, thats where we meet. If you would like to join us - Welcome In.

about

M.H. is an American band that consists mostly of 20 year old Maxfield Háag, playing and recording most of the instruments at ... more home, though it's not uncommon to hear guest singers and musicians. He cites isolation, Southern Gothic literature, aphorism, home-recording artists and European folk music as influences. So far, "M.H" has released 6 albums since 2010's "Summer Lawn, Locust Song". less

Track Name: Summer Lawn, Locust Song
Sitting on the lawn like a locust in summer
Sweating up seas and cursing like dogma.
I lost my gold-locket in the rolling rivers
that sank every swimmer trying to beat the tide.

So I buried my maps; set the house on fire
and all of my keepsakes looked better in the yard.
Cuz you'd never again, step foot in this house
and I knew that your ghost would never let me out.

I found you one night in my swirling dreams
as a dying sun behind flowing sheets.
You made me wish that I was a locust
so that I could live among the ground I eat
and you'd be the sun that made me shimmer
in the summer lawn, in the summer heat.
Track Name: All There Is
If you've seen all there is to see,
then let me know.

And if you need me to leave
just stop this car, before we get home.
And if you're through with letting shit slide,
I'll understand.
And if there's a simple way
to make it past the bridge, before the minute hand.

Then we'll slide right through the trees,
like the lovers we used to be
and the springs beneath the sheets
will sing us both to sleep.
Track Name: Leaving Tucson
I wanted to tell you
that I missed the flight.
I knew that you faked it-
it just didn't feel.

A backhand deal,
indiscrete as a hostage exchange.
I just wanted you to tell me,
"You were right."

In the messy veins of "Texas Overview"
you can see it all coming down.
Miles from here, miles below
you're dissecting the air- only to breathe.

Maybe one day you'll have the body of a horse--
facilitate your escape plan; let it come easy.
You will die young but old enough to be proud
and the trees will flag your home in the ground.
